I have a new friend. We work together. This friends is significant becaus i actually hang out with her. You see, I'm whats know as a bad friend. Unless your last name is streator, despain Brewerton(sisters married name) or Jenny Carman, I probably don't hang out with you. Even though i may really really like you as a friend, and I read your blog, see your facebook things etc, i sort of just don't hang out with anyone unless its my family. I also suck at going to social events, especially gatherings of girls events. It's not because I'm shy or anything, no no i have a motto, "I don't have enough time to spend it with the people I really like, so I'm not going to spend it with people i don't know or sort of like." That all falls into the "i'm a bad friend" clause. Thats just how I am. Anyway, I like my new friend and we've been going to a Zumba class on Tuesday and Thursday nights. It used to be kickboxing on Tuesdays which I loved but the teacher had surgery so right now its Zumba both nights. It's not really the best workout, but its fun. This is where the ballet part comes in. My new friend came to zumba in ballet shoes and it got me thinking, that would be a good idea. Its kind of hard to dance in sticky to the floor tennis shoes. So i bought some ballet shoes, these to be exact:
I love them. Turns out their not the best zumba shoes because it kind of hurts to jump around in them and they are a little bit too slippery, turns out they are meant for ballet and not for zumba, go figure. But I wear them anyway because I have a secret ambition to be a real live ballerina. Have you ever wanted a skill you don't have? Well for me it's ballet, I wish more than anything that i was a ballerina. I mean seriously have you ever seen anything as gorgeous as this?
The pink and the frills and the point shoes AH i LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!! I wish i would have stuck with ballet when i was a kid, unfortunately i abandoned it for piano which i showed more talent in but who isn't bad a ballet when they are a kid, if i had stuck with it i bet i could have been good. I have many times since then tried to do ballet, however APPARENTLY no one above the age of ten shares my ambition to be a ballerina because every class i've tried to take is either canceled because lack of interest and not enough people in it or they just plain don't exist. Oh but one day i will be a ballerina, even if its just pretend, like right now i'm wearing my ballet shoes for no good reason, just because I'm a nerd. I also have a secret ambition to be an amazing ice skater. In that category i have been mildly successful, i at least have taken ice skating classes. But really what is ice skating besides ballet on ice? Maybe one day, i suppose i will continue to dream, envy all the real ballerinas, and pout about it while wearing my ballet slippers. And yes, I put them on and dance around the house when Brandon's gone. like i said, I'm a nerd :)

chili, legos and pummelos
This week at work we had a soup/chili cook off. It was way fun and we are probably going to do a new one every month with various items being cooked. I made a veggie chili and was in the top three way tie when the deciding vote allowed Lori's chicken tortilla soup to win. All of them were very very delicious. I was pretty happy i made it to the top three :) I just made it up and i've decided i really like throwing things together to see how it turns out. We'll see what happens next time.
Ever since the Streators pulled out the old legos months ago we have been hit with lego mania. We all got Legos for Christmas including mama and papa Streator (thanks to mama and papa Streator for the legos) Well i think Brandon and I have taken the lego mania to a new level. Yesterday we were in Salt Lake City after spending Friday with mama and papa Despain (we went to a delicious dinner in midway with them and had lots of fun doing puzzles etc) so we stopped at Target to take back a few items. Using some of our gift cards we bought some things we wanted. Half of the bill went towards legos. You know how a long time ago i wrote a post that the best thing about being married is you have someone who is just as weird as you are?? Well this is that exact instance. Who else beside Brandon would go and spend loads of money on legos with me, its perfect :) We bought these:
Its just so nice to sit down and watch a movie and build a cool little something. We have every intention of buying more and building up quite a collection :)
And lastly, I was at Lees the other night shopping and considering purchasing some oranges when this dude told me i had to try a pummelo. I took his advice after some consideration and bought one. He was quite right, they are delicious. They are kind of like a really big grapefruit but sweeter. And fun fact of the day, a tangelo is indeed not a mixture of a tangerine and an orange as i once thought but of a tangerine and and a pummelo. I don't recommend undergoing the journey of eating a pummelo alone. They are quite large and will require an assistant eater or to be eaten over the course of a few days. I also don't believe i cut into mine correctly so i suggest looking up how to eat one first which if i ever buy one again i certainly will do just that. I think they would be good on a salad because its not as bitter as grapefruit. Something to maybe be tried in the future :)

broken bones
My poor Brandon broke his clavicle. We had had a pretty good day of skiing when we suddenly lost my dad. We went back over with our friends Andy and Savannah to look for him to no avail so kept skiing. We went down a run and when we got towards the bottom there was a little jump where a trail merges. Andy said hey Savannah go off the jump, she laughed said no and Andy proceeded to jump. Savannah went, I went and between the three of us we averaged 1/2-1 inch of air if you stretch it a little. Then Brandon went, flew of it, somehow fell right on his clavicle heard it snap and slid a few feet down the hill all to the guffaws of 3 people above him. then we skied towards him and he said... i think somethings wrong, it just doesn't feel right. He pulled back his shirt a little and we immediately realized something was quite wrong although we didn't want to admit it. we popped his ski on quickly and skied down to the clinic where instantly they said it was broken. My dear mom took and x-ray and sure enough it was broken in 3 places (we found out later actually 4). Luckily there just happened to be the orthopedic surgeon who reads x-rays for the clinic out skiing and he came in right as we did. He was able to diagnose right there and determine it needed surgery and even got us an appointment for Tuesday (this was saturday). We were so blessed to be able to have him right there and to get in to surgery right away because even though the surgery is hurting Brandon i know it will be much better than having the bones move around for who knows how long before we could have gotten the surgery in Logan. Yesterday we woke up at 5 Am and drove all the way to SLC to get surgery and didn't leave until 2:30 EEP! I was so happy to have my mom come in the morning and stay and Sarah came for the 2nd half. It was nice to have them even though i thought I'd be fine just reading. Brandon is in a lot of pain still but he's doing better now. We are so counting our blessings that it wasn't something worse, we have insurance, we have good savings, we were able to get it taken care of right away and that we are in good health so that everything will heal better. I'm very grateful to our families who have been so helpful and supportive and that everything is working out very well. I suppose we won't be getting that new car (well used but new) we need for a little while but oh well i guess. I'll keep you updated if anything new or exciting happens. Till then, thanking the Lord for the many many blessings we enjoy. :)

couch
Tonight Brandon and I went couch shopping. We found one at Shopko and decided to buy a couch we really liked. We had Sarah come over and see if she liked it and then got Jay and Michelle to bring the truck and take it to our house. We were very excited and decided it was a pretty couch for a good deal and were very excited. Then we got it to our house and had Brandon and Jay carry it up. Unfortunately rental houses are funky and kind of suck sometimes. Guess what, there was no way to get the couch into our house. Now we have taken our old nasty couch out of the house so we have no couch. SIGH, oh well, guess we'll enjoy it sometime in the future. Thanks to the Streators for being so excited and helping us get so close to enjoying a nice new couch. I tried to get a picture from online but apparently Shopko doesn't show their couches online, so you won't even get to see it, i know how much you wanted to ;). one day we'll have a real house, and then we can use our couch I hope :).

not much new
I wish i had something really exciting to report... alas I do not. We had a most wonderful Christmas. We got to spend lots of time with both sides of the family which was so great. I think we got more toys this year than i have in a large chunk of my childhood. The best part is is we've played with and enjoyed every one. :) My favorite toy I got was a beautiful pink bin of legos. I can't believe how much fun Legos are, especially when they are pretty and pink. We got a lot of other really nice gifts and it was equally as fun to give gifts. Christmas came and went and we ushered in the New Year. I've never been a big New Years person. I'm usually tired around 10:30 and therefore end up forcing myself to stay up for a pretty unexciting event and then wish I'd just gone to bed when i wanted to an hour and half ago. Miraculously i managed to stay up until about 2:30 in the morning this year without getting too tired. That about all that's exciting these days. Just going back to work tomorrow... i'll try and think of something better to write sometime soon, I've been a little sucky at blogging lately, the end.
