a nice realization
I decided something tonight as I walked home from the library with a stack of books under one arm and reading a book in the other hand only looking up for crosswalks. I thought to my little self, I must look like such a dork right now. Then I thought to my little self you know what, I've been out of high school for 5 years, I'm married and I could care less what anyone thinks of me. I got straight A's in high school and straight A's in college, I spent most of my Saturday's as a child reading a book in bed, I like watching documentaries and I spend a good chunk of the day correcting people's English in my head. I'm a big fat nerd and I'm dang proud of it!!!!

I love my family
First of all a quick update on whats going on. Our car got broken into, that was lame. I started my new job yesterday and I really like it so far. The people I work with are so nice and fun. It was really sad quitting my other job because it was very hard to say goodbye to my patients. I know I didn't know them very long but we really got to know each other. For some of them I was the only person they saw all day so they looked forward to it. It was sad and full of tears but I really think it was the right thing to do. When we went to the temple I prayed about nursing and I really did not get a good feeling about it and I think I've been a lot happier since I quit. Now on to the title of this post
I have the best family and extended family in the whole world!!!!! (this includes my in-laws but this post is about my cushing/berger side). Tonight we had a baby shower for my sister and you know what was great? I had fun the whole time. As a general rule I highly dislike most social events especially ones involving only girls because I always feel out of place. I'm pretty sure everyone else feels the same way but usually girls start talking about makeup and hair products all of which are not my thing. That's the great thing about going to showers for your immediate family members because that means you basically get to have a party with your family which automatically means I'll like it (that included Adam's side of the family too, very fun) There are no awkward conversations involving eye liner and miniature yorkiepoos and how baby hungry you are.
Here's the great thing about my family, everyone decides to talk to the person clear across the way from them, no one ever talks to the person sitting next to them and everyone is always laughing so it gets really loud. I'm not talking little giggles I'm talking roaring, knee slapping, cross you legs so you don't pee laughter. I always used to laugh at my mom her sister and their cousin because when they get together there is about 90 parts laughing to 10 parts words but tonight I found myself doing the same thing with my cousin and 2nd cousin. I realized yet again (i average about 5 times a day) I am just like my mother. I love that we'd all rather stay home with our husbands and families than go out to big events any day, we spend more time with our family than any one else, we like showers that don't include loads of games in fact no games usually = better, we love being married and no one ever says crappy things like "oh your happy now? well just give it some time you'll see" Which brings me to a side rant, I'm so sick of people being negative about being a newlywed, enjoying marriage etc. I'm sorry if you feel that way but that is just my personality, I'm always happy in everything I am doing so I don't see why marriage is any different. I'm a positive person and I always find the good in things so naturally I will be positive about my marriage. I hate it when I get something for Brandon like a glass of water and people make a snarky remark about thats just being a newlywed that will change well guess what thats also my personality. I grew up with a sister who ran me around doing things for her and that hasn't changed, i get things for people when they ask and usually i enjoy doing it. It's common courtesy and has nothing to do with being a newlywed. I'm not saying Brandon and I walk around in newlywed bliss all the time, we get annoyed or upset with each other sometimes but it's not in our nature to fight we are both peacemakers who get along with people. So i'm sorry to all you out there who have a hard marriage but stop dogging on mine, i'm not naive and you don't get to dismiss my personality and outlook on life as naive newlywed crap. I'm realistic, I recognize that things won't always be easy and I'm sure kids will make everything more challenging but in the mean time please let me enjoy being happy.
Ok side rant done sorry that has been bugging me a lot lately because people keep condescendingly saying things to us and I want to say it has nothing to do with being a newlywed, this is my personality. I think I will start saying that from now on I've gotten to the point of being fed up enough to speak my mind. Anyway the point of this whole post is about how great my family is and I'm so happy I can feel so comfortable and totally myself with them. I came home to Brandon and said when do I ever come home from showers or other events and tell you for 20 minutes how much fun I had. So thanks awesome family and thanks awesome in laws because I feel the same way about you. I love my family they are definitely my best friends.
(sorry this was super opinionated, sometimes I like to talk about things I don't really have a lot of experience in as if I did, maybe one day I'll eat all my words about marriage but until then, happy husband and wife to me :)
