grateful for a family of cleaners
When I went to St. Thomas on my internship a couple of summers ago, we were left at the airport for several hours and brought to one of the messiest homes i've ever seen. Apparently our manager misunderstood the day we were coming in so he didn't pick us up from the airport and he didn't have time to clean the mess the boy interns before us left. I don't understand how you could live like they did. We got to our house at 11 or so at night and we had to clean until 2 AM just so we could even walk in and sleep. It took an additional several days to make the place livable. The point is I just don't understand sometimes how people can live the way they do. I'm not really going to go into what prompted this post but all I can say is I'm am so grateful for my mom and her mom before her and her mom before her and who knows how many generations that clean living has been passed down from. I'm so grateful that I was taught to clean the house once a week. It doesn't matter if it takes all week doing it one room a day or if you do it all at once but you always clean your entire house once a week. The great thing about it is, if you keep up on your cleaning, you really don't have to do that great of a job at it every week. If you're too tired and really don't want to clean one week, its ok because all it takes is a quick brush over and a little scrubbing because its still pretty clean from the week before. I'm so glad I have grandparents who faithfully get up every Saturday and clean their entire house top to bottom, even the rooms they don't use. I'm glad i have their example to look up to. I didn't always like cleaning the house every week when i was a kid but when I got to college boy was I grateful for it. I decided to be like my grandparents and every Saturday i would wake up at 7 or 8, clean the entire house, do my grocery shopping and be back all before any of my roommates had even woken up. It's one habit i keep on a consistent basis and at most go two weeks without cleaning when i'm really busy and not wanting to keep up with it. All I can say is thank you thank you thank you to all of the lovely people in my life who have taught me the value of a clean home!!!!

Spontaneous vegas trip!
We went to Vegas this weekend. Randomly on Saturday after being in Salt Lake all day Brandon turns to me on the drive home and asked if i wanted to go to Vegas. We looked at each other and said heck yes, why not! So we got home, packed up our stuff, booked a hotel, went to bed early and woke up at 3:00 AM Sunday morning to start our big drive. We made it there by like 10:30 and realized its ridiculously early to do anything in Vegas and maybe we were a little over eager but we still had fun on Sunday. I unfortunately don't do well with not very much sleep so I was a little grumpy and tired the first day but Monday I was raring to go. We walked into a bunch of the hotels and checked out all the fun stuff and got some yummy food. We also rode the NY NY roller coaster which was fun but holy crap that thing hurt so badly! It was like someone tossed you off a cliff and you were bumping and rolling into things the whole way. We also held up the whole ride for like 3 or 4 minutes because we had our cell phone on us which apparently they saw on camera and made us give it up. That was kind of embarrassing, its wasn't like we were trying to hide it, we just thought it would be fine in Brandon's pocket. Oh well. We had lots of fun and it was a very nice get away before all of the stress that will be coming up. We got up Tuesday at 5 AM and drove all they way back in time for Brandon to get to his class at 4:30. I think we spent half the time driving and being tired but still it was fun to just do something spontaneous.

onward and out
well now that its official i suppose I can tell everyone (yes i know that's like 3 of you who actually read my little blog and you probably already know) that hubby and i are moving to Salt Lake. Brandon got a very good job offer that I'm excited for him to start. It was a very sad choice because we love it here but in the long run I think it will be really great. Only problem is I will be out of a job. However I have a goal to go to nursing school. I'm nervous about it but its something i really think i want to do and i hope that i can get in and everything. I'm going to take a CNA class when i get there and then hopefully get a job doing that to get experience. I've been considering it and pouring over my options for months but i never thought i would actually get the chance because the best options are in Salt Lake. But now that its a possibility I'm really excited. Its gonna be a lot of work to move and get resettled but I'm excited. Its bittersweet but i think it will be good. I'll keep you updated what happens :)

wheat bread
I used to cook a ton but working full time impedes that and I find that I have lost many of my cooking skills simply by not exercising them. Sometime ago I made 3 disastrous batches of rolls. I was sad because making rolls uses a lot of ingredients you know? Well today I successfully made wheat bread and I was very proud that it worked. I have had bad luck with items requiring yeast but today miraculously worked. YAY! :)
